There is a lovely strong population of sand lizards in Sussex on the coast. Seaford Fort and Newhaven Fort good spots as they love to bask on the bricks 😊

Adders are not the only venomous thing around here by any means. We have many venomous Spiders. But much like the Adder are harmless to a reasonably healthy human.

There used to be some where i lived. Going back a long time ago. Of course they were very tiny young ones released, when irresponsible keepers let them go. If they did survive; which they didn't. They would be very large now.

They could have come over on a canal boat brought over from Europe, canal boats are much cheaper abroad and are often purchased than either cross the channel or are taken out of the water then brought over. I grew up around Salford Quays and there used to be tons of weird and wonderful creatures around the parks and along the canal hedgerows and wetlands in Trafford park in the 60s that came over on ships that docked at Salford Quays.

Loved the little stretch the sand lizard did in the end and love your passion for wildlife broski. do you know if there is any rare and/or spectacular animals in kent(otherthan sheerness's scorpions, the iron age pigs and bison in blean that is)? Surely something lurking in the kent downs near ashford or any of the seaside towns like whistable sandwich or dover? ive heard a wallaby was spotted near ashford but thats been about all ive heard other than the ocasional zoo escapee that was promptly caught

I was once walking in the fells up in cumbria and I was about 5 cm away from stepping on it and then me and my mate proceeded to chase it further down the mountain

Im from Central African Republic, and so many people are so impoverished this makes so much sense why they would do this. I really appreciate you guys and all the rangers around the world who protect animals like this.

I used to see wallabies in North Derbyshire. Not seen one for some time now.

Grew up in Leam, knew it was for Elephants, never knew it was the only one in the UK.

We have animals in the government too.

There's a colony of Pine Martins discovered in Shropshire, there's no record of reintroduction.

Just across the water from Studland, in Boscombe there are Western Green Lizards (Lacerta Bilineata) & Wall Lizards (Podarcis Muralis). A fairly decent colony, living together with Common & Sand Lizards.
